Patti Smith has totally captured my imagination

We are meeting Tuesday night to discuss this book, written by a woman who I totally ignored back in the day because I am not a big punk rock fan. Now I'm smitten - read the book, watched the DVD "Dream of Life" and learned about her return to the stage at age 50, plus listened to some podcasts of interviews with her. Fascinating person, and those years of living/writing poetry infuse great personality and style into both her writing and her way of speaking. Truly inspiring.

(Ironically, Just Kids, which is the story of her relationship with Robert Mapplethorp, didn't really get me interested in him. I was already familiar with his work. There's an Mapplethorp exhibit in San Jose right this minute, but I am not planning on going.)

A celebrity bio that wasn't ghostwritten, and has a lot to say. Wonderful.
