My Cuban Journey

After reading Carlos Eire's bio, I started reading a lot of books about Cuban. Eight non-fiction, two fiction, and I've also watched some docs on Cuban history. Very fascinating. I am going to add the list later, and I have learned a lot from the journey. I just want to comment on one odd aspect of Cuban culture, which actually seems to be a Latin-American thing also - they love and venerate poets. They have turned to poets as revolutionary leaders and as politicians. Even though a very sexist culture - and almost hilariously homophobic - I feel something for people who in the midst of our materialistic world, love poets.
