SLOW BOAT BOOKS

Really, I don't mind a slow-moving book or movie, but this year's books are less than moving. Reading SPRING, I just want to say, if I was Knausgaard's wife, I would leave him for being infuriating. The book is suspenseful because you just want to say "Get to the point already!" Once there was the reveal,  I enjoyed the last eighth of the novel. Our April read SUNDAYS IN AUGUST, I kind of liked, but again, talk about slow suspense. Plus I kept thinking, This writer won a Nobel Prize for literature???

Actually I just had a thought: reading these two books was somewhat like watching the famous OJ chase across LA in the white Ford Bronco.

I agree. The whole year has been slow and/or wrenching. I'm hoping that Less, our next book, will be a good break from this trend.
