Or is THE POWER AND THE GLORY one of the best books I've read in a while? Given my very non religious bent, it may surprise some. But I felt great empathy and connection to the little whiskey priest, who was so imperfect, so aware of his imperfections, and who struggled on just the same. Great book and had a way of suggesting, questioning, prodding faith issues that I appreciated. Many in the group found it too dark and depressing, but I did not.

I agree with you Bettie! I just love this one, darkness and all.
