The Idiot by Elif Batuman

I can't wait to go to book club next week, and to discuss The Idiot by Elif Batuman. I loved the book, but I fully expect some pushback on this. It does not have a conventional plot structure, which seems very appropriate given it tells the story of a young Turkish American woman's first year at Harvard. The narrative mirrors the overwhelming atmosphere that a freshman experiences the first time away from home. It's amazing.

I am still plugging away on The Idiot, but I will finish, sometime (except I can't do more than a few pages at a sitting). Batuman is an amazing writer, and amazingly full of knowledge of what I would call Western Civ. It's a fun ride.
