Somebody tell me that's wrong - we aren't that age-advanced.
Soooo - our last meeting, in San Francisco, at Susan's, was curiously rowdy. We were discussing Wallace Stegner's Crossing to Safety, and what did it all mean? He seemed to say that when it is all said and done, really all we have are friendships.
Somehow we started talking about the rapidly changing world and our careers that are careening off course in spite of our amazing intelligence and hard work - and then even more serious topics such as well, death, and would our lives be different had we chosen different partners?
And yet, we were laughing like crazy too. It was rather amazing. Wonderful food, wonderful setting, we discussed the book quite extensively, and then all this "life stuff" too. At the end of the night - everyone stayed late - really, what we knew we had were the friendships. And books . . .
OH and selfies ----
PS we missed the rest of you and hope to see everyone next month.
